Most who are familiar with my work immediately think of bustling streets, the rhythm of city life, and candid moments. That’s been my hallmark for a long while now. The streets, with their vibrant energy and unpredictable nuances, have always been my primary muse. I find a certain thrill in capturing these transient moments—a discarded chair or a lost toy, a hurried commuter, or even a fleeting glance between strangers.
Yet, the compass of my photography points beyond the streets. From the vantage of my east-facing apartment, I've documented endless sunrises, shifting storm clouds, and even the silhouette of planes against the fiery ball of the sun. Frequent travels to a nearby cemetery allow the nature photographer in me to run free, catching images of birds on tombstones and other wildlife. All these moments, while seemingly divergent from my typical work, are equally authentic fragments of my narrative.
Recently, sharing some of the scenes of clouds and skyscapes on a local Facebook group made me realize their universal resonance. A community member's comment encapsulated it: “Your photos are always so incredible and inspirational. Thank you for sharing."
The realization dawned on me that even though I'm the one behind the lens, once captured, these photographs take on a life of their own. They become entities that are larger than my personal wants and desires, belonging now to a collective universe. A universe where moments, feelings, and memories are shared, creating a tapestry of interconnected human experiences.
This shift in perspective is profoundly humbling. My photographs, whether of urban energy or serene skies, are my gift to this vast universe. In sharing them, I'm not only revealing parts of myself but also contributing to a shared, all-encompassing story. While I will continue to find solace in the streets that feel like home, I'm reminded that every image I capture has the potential to touch, inspire, and resonate, far beyond the confines of my own vision.
Thank you for staying approachable in how you view street photography and for your appreciation of those spontaneous, lucky moments you capture.
