Happy 2024 to all of you.
Apologies for the long gap between these newsletter issues. I now have a appreciation of the work it takes to maintain a constant flow of creative content and I think I have to readjust my expectations. That being said, here is the first issue for 2024. I hope to at least send something out once a month but I’ll try to do more if time allows.
Since the first newsletter, I've been immersing myself more deeply into photo journaling, and I'm eager to share these new chapters with you.
A New Perspective with Others' Work
My journal now includes a curated selection of images from various, perhaps unknown photographers I admire on social media. This isn't just about collecting; it's about surrounding myself with a diversity of styles and perspectives. Each image I choose tells a story, sparks an emotion, or offers a new perspective that I write down in my journal. By reflecting on these photos, I'm not only exploring my reactions but also drawing comparisons and links with other images, including my own work.
Journaling as a Path to Self-Discovery
Interestingly, this journey has become more than just an artistic endeavor; it also seems to be a path to self-discovery. Every entry, every reflection I make on these images, reveals a little more about my perceptions, my emotions, and my creative inclinations. It's like each page of my journal is a step deeper into the labyrinth of my own creativity, offering insights and revelations about my artistic identity.
Tackling Creative Blocks with Prompts
Sometimes, a photo can leave me at a loss for words. Here, prompts have been a savior. They're like keys that unlock the floodgates of creativity. Simple questions about the image's story, its impact on me, or how I might have captured it differently can lead to profound insights and narratives.
The Joy of Quality Writing Tools
I've also grown to appreciate the importance of quality in the tools I use. My new collection of fountain pens and premium notebooks has transformed my journaling experience. These tools don't just facilitate writing; they invite and inspire it. The tactile pleasure of a good pen gliding over fine paper makes the process more engaging and enjoyable. I highly recommend investing in tools that not only serve their purpose but also delight in their use.
In Search of the Perfect Notebook
On the practical side, I'm exploring new notebooks. As the journal grows with photos, it's important to find one that can accommodate this expansion comfortably. The balance between size, paper quality, and binding style is key for a seamless journaling experience. I'll keep you updated on this quest for the ideal journal.
Future Shares and Inspiration
Starting now, I'll share snippets from my journal. My hope is that these entries will not only give you a glimpse into my creative process but also inspire you to start or continue your own photo journaling journey. Remember, there's no wrong way to do this – it's all about expressing yourself and exploring your connection with photography.
Stay Inspired,
Antonio
I love seeing you journey into journaling rewarding you!
