Following my last post about the world of photo journaling, where I dived into how photos and words can come together in a pretty special way, I’ve taken another step down this path. I moved up to a larger, B5-sized journal, and let me tell you, it’s made a huge difference. Now, there’s room for bigger photos and more space to spill my thoughts, making the whole experience richer and more immersive.
Just the other day, I was all set to dive into these Alfred Stieglitz photos of Georgia O’Keeffe’s hands with a shiny new Jinhao X450 fountain pen, but then I noticed it was loaded with red ink. Slapping a similar red ink on a new page right across from another also written in red just didn’t sit right with me. So, I made the switch to a TWSBI Eco pen, inked with a beautiful cool violet color.
The freedom to jot down my thoughts in all sorts of ink colors and pens is honestly a blast. It’s like having a conversation with myself, discovering new things, and finding beauty in the everyday. Deciding which photos to add next keeps the whole process exciting and fresh.
Plus, this hobby is the perfect excuse to dive into my pen collection and mix things up with different ink colors and fun pens. Seeing how the colored inks stand out against the black and white photos adds an extra layer of cool to each page. Now, I’m about 30 pages in, and my journal is already getting chunky from all the stories piling up.
Looking back over what I’ve created so far fills me with a mix of pride and nostalgia. This journal, blending pictures and words, is turning into a vivid snapshot of my journey. It proves how photos and writing can really complement each other, building a story that’s both deep and layered. Continuing this adventure not only reminds me why I love photo journaling so much but also shows how it can make us appreciate the big and small moments in life even more.
